Jack - do you buy everything that comes out on Bluray or just what you like?

I kind of remember you saying something about buying some shit because it was on Bluray and not actually liking it but I could be wrong...?

I found the Nausicaa books yesterday at a Goodwill and almost bought them. I regret it already.

I did however buy Japanese VHS of Beast Wars, I think 12 episodes over 4 tapes and the original Transformers movie with English subs.

nausicaa is gonna be the first ghibli film on blu-ray (after ponyo of course) later this year and it's going to be AWESOME

check out the screencaps of ponyo in 1080p, the hand-drawn animation looks phenomenal. can't wait to watch it.

That is fairly impressive. I'm always slightly worried about the transition of older animated films to newer formats, due to sheer nature of an hand-drawn/painted format transition oddly to a digital form. Colors tend to look muddied, and need digital correction. However, I've not seen any looks at their appearance on blu-ray.

oh weird, i didn't know there were some people who took issue with the sleeping beauty restoration. i thought it looked amazing, and most of the reviews echo that sentiment. i think that dude is full of shit.

Well, I think the real issue is a debate betweek technology oriented reviewers and hard core classic animation reviewers.
